VANCOUVER, B.C.: Jan. 24, 2020 – If you expected to wake up to snow, hang tight. Sunday’s weather forecast includes a snowfall warning and a special weather statement, warning of possible snow across parts of the Metro Vancouver region.
Both alerts were issued just before 5 a.m. Sunday, warning of between 2 to 15 centimetres of snow across the south coast between Sunday to Monday.
A cool airmass associated with a low pressure system will bring snow or rain to the south coast today and Monday.
“The complex terrain around the south coast will result in varied snowfall totals across the region,” read the snowfall warning.
“Communities immediately near the water such as Comox, Parksville, Nanaimo and lower elevations of Metro Vancouver will see up to 5 cm of snow. Rain or wet snow is possible for these regions as well with no accumulations.”
Meanwhile, higher elevations and inland areas of the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley will see higher amounts of snowfall.
