Hospitalizations in Quebec are of concern to officials, particularly in Montreal and Laval where numbers are high. As of Sunday, there are 1,327 people receiving treatment for COVID-19 in Quebec hospitals, down 56 from Saturday. Of them, 219 are in the intensive care ward, which is three more than Saturday’s total.
However, for the first time in three months, recent projections from Quebec’s Institut national d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESS) suggest hospitalizations will drop in the coming weeks.
The latest available data in Montreal showed that 696 of Quebec’s hospitalizations are in the city, including 112 in intensive care.
Montreal is once again the region with the most new cases in the province, reporting 580 on Sunday, followed by Montérégie with 323 and Laval with 122. A total of 90,856 cases have been confirmed in Montreal since the start of the pandemic, and it remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Quebec.
