Caron confirmed that new evidence, including a Quebec Transport Ministry surveillance video, showed that a third person had been present during the attack against Vig.
He said investigators acted with diligence, but the consequences were regrettable.
“We will not hesitate to apologize to Mr. Camara when the time is right,” Caron said. “We will do it once we have all the elements necessary to do it.”
Caron said the investigation is continuing, and that Camara is considered to be an “important witness.”

Police detectives visited the crime scene on Monday and Tuesday with a witness, Caron said. After confirming that a third person had been on the scene, they gave that information to the Crown prosecutor’s office on Wednesday morning.
