Variants could force stricter restrictions in Alberta than those in December, Kenney says

Two more Calgary schools exposed to U.K. variant
Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Thursday two more Calgary-area schools have been exposed to the U.K. variant strain of COVID-19.
There were 11 additional cases of variant COVID-19 strains reported by Hinshaw on Thursday, all of the U.K. variant. Of those, seven have no known link to travel.
Two U.K. variant cases that were linked to travel “potentially exposed” two Calgary-area schools, Hinshaw said.
“As I mentioned in previous updates, these individuals did nothing wrong and, unfortunately, the exposure was the result of overlap in incubation and quarantine periods,” she said during her Thursday update.
