150 people are feared to trapped in the havoc after a massive avalanche in Raini village near Chamoli, Joshimath, Uttarakhand, caused massive destruction in the nearby villages and surrounding areas. The water level in the Dhauliganga River rose after a sudden avalanche near a power project at Raini village in the Tapovan area of Chamoli district.
The NDRF and SDF team have reached the spots and carrying out the rescue operations and three bodies have been recovered at the NTPC site in the Tapovan area of Chamoli in Uttarakhand.

Home Minister Amit Shah also reviewed the situation and said that 3 NDRF teams have been deployed at the disaster site and more teams are ready to be airlifted to Uttarakhand from Delhi.

It is being said that the situation is under control.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat informed, “Water flow in the Alaknanda river has become normal past Nandprayag. The water level of the river is now 1 meter above normal but the flow is decreasing. Chief Secretary, Disaster Secretary, Police officials & my all teams are monitoring the situation in the disaster control room.”
