The University of Lahore, Pakistan has taken offence to a viral video and expelled its two students namely Hadiqa Javed and Shehryar Ahmed, who can be seen giving flowers and embracing each other on the campus.
The incident seem to have not gone down well with the Management of the University of Lahore who issued an order to expel both Students and also restricted their entry in UOL and other campuses. Why the video has gone viral?
In the video the girl can be seen proposing her boyfriend which went viral on social media. In a conservation setting of Pakistan, the girl proposing to her beloved while getting down on her knee has left many shocked.
Even though the idea of a girl proposing a boy is very common thing, it is still rare in Pakistan’s society. The viral video garnered a lot of attention after it started making rounds on the Facebook page of the University Of Lahore (UOL).
As per news agency PTI, the two students were involved in gross misconduct and violation of university rules, said the University. The students in question were also summoned before the committee but both failed to appear. Hence, in accordance to the Section 9 of the General Discipline and Code of Conduct on the Campus, the committee has decided to expel the two students for violating the varsity’s rules and regulations and serious infraction of the code of conduct. Furthermore, as per Section 16, they are debarred from entering the premises of University of Lahore and all its sub-campuses,” read a statement from the University of Lahore.
The viral clip shows a young woman going down her knee with a bouquet in her hands. She proposed to the boy but the voice gets lost among the cheering crowd who surrounded the lovebirds. The short viral clip ends with the couple hugging each other.
There are mixed reaction on social media as some are supporting the varsity’s order to expel while some are urging the UOL to reconsider its decision.
