The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting 100 new of COVID-19 cases over the past two days, but no new deaths.
Closed on Good Friday, the health unit is reporting 52 cases on Friday to go with 48 cases on Thursday and pushing the area’s total confirmed case total to 14,028.
Of the 100 newly reported cases, 17 are close contacts of confirmed cases, 10 are community acquired, one cases is travel related to the United States, one case is outbreak related while 71 cases are still under investigation.
There is a total of 91 preliminary or confirmed cases of the variant that have now been identified, which is up 12 over the past two days. Hospitalizations remain steady at 14.
Vaccinations continue to ramp up with 85,872 residents having now received at least one dose, which is up 4,537 over the past two days. Another 48 have received both doses with total doses administered to Windsor and Essex County resident up 4,585 to 98,225.
With the province moving into lockdown, Ontario reported 6,098 cases over the past two days on Saturday with another 39 deaths over those two days.
Provincial officials reported 3,009 cases from Thursday and another 3,089 cases on Friday. It’s the first time since Jan. 17 that more than 3,000 daily cases were recorded. The seven-day rolling average for the province is now at 2,552, which is up from 1,944 a week ago.
