Unilabs Partners With Travel Pass For COVID-19 Tests
Unilabs, a European diagnostic services provider and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have signed an agreement for Unilabs to test COVID-19 PCR tests for the IATA Travel Pass.
Unilabs is one of the major lab groups to partner with the Travel Pass app.
Through the app, individuals will receive their results of the PCR tests, which will provide a safe and secure mode that will be convenient for the traveller.
The IATA Travel Pass will also provide information on a country’s entry requirements and will also hold the passenger’s digital certificate of vaccinations and PCR tests.
Unilabs will upload the test results on to the app which will be checked against the IATA Timatic global registry of national health requirements, to proceed with an ‘OK to Travel’ status.
Trials are currently being held and once successful, the travel pass will be implemented in other countries.
Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director-General said, “COVID-19 testing will play a role in re-starting international travel. Travellers will need to understand test requirements, locate labs, verify their identity to the lab and transfer their test results to relevant parties – airlines and governments – as needed. Our partnership with Unilabs will give travellers access to Unilabs’ extensive network and help them securely and efficiently manage their test results.”
