The Most Noble Numbers Charity Auction raised Dhs 50 million for the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign, that aims to provide meals to those in need during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The auction was organised in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority, Etisalat and Emirates Auction.
The single and double-digit car plates and exclusive mobile numbers were sold for Dhs 48,500,000 and Dhs 1,950,000 was raised through direct donations from those in attendance.
The charity auction was organised under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
The special single-digit car plate number AA9 was sold for an amazing Dhs 38,000,000, setting a new world record as the most expensive car number plate in the world.
Also in the auction, car number plate U31 was sold for Dhs 2,600,000, T38 was sold for Dhs 1,800,000 and for Dhs 2,450,000 E51 was sold.
The unique mobile number that went for the highest bid at the event was the number 056 999 9999, which was sold for Dhs 3,000,000.
Global Village also broke a world record by creating a light-up mosaic featuring 2,500 lanterns, in support of the campaign.
The lanterns spelled out the 100,000,000 meals and were later distributed to the public.
