Antonio Conte is now in “advanced” talks to become the next Tottenham Hotspur head coach, according to reports in Italy.
Tottenham are still searching for a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho, whom they sacked in March. In recent days, there has been a lot of speculation about a return for Mauricio Pochettino. However, that pursuit appears to have hit a dead end after Paris Saint-Germain extended his contract.
Therefore, Spurs are keeping their options open as they continue to consider a number of candidates.
One of the most high-profile suggestions is former Chelsea boss Conte. He won the Serie A title with Inter this season but financial difficulties have led them to separate.
As per the terms of their split, Conte cannot take another job in Serie A for the 2021-22 season. Hence, his next job could be in England.
He has been linked with a return to the capital to lead Spurs practically ever since. Now, those rumours are accelerating.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Conte is in “advanced” discussions with Tottenham over joining the club.
The 51-year-old has fond memories of working in the Premier League after winning the title with Chelsea previously. Now, he could return to London.

Conte to reunite with Paratici?
It has also emerged recently that Tottenham are looking to appoint a director of football and that man could be Conte’s former Juventus colleague Fabio Paratici.
Paratici has recently ended his long stint with Juventus and has become a target for Tottenham. There is a chance he and Conte could work together again, hoping to replicate their prior success in new surroundings.
Conte wants backing in the transfer market wherever he goes, so collaborating with someone he has an existing relationship with to do so may make sense.
