Milan Launch ‘RespACT’ Campaign Along With Manifesto for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Milan have released a manifesto outlining their commitment to fighting all forms of prejudice within sport, with an accompanying ‘RESPACT‘ programme unveiled as they look to reach a broader audience.

The manifesto is built upon four strategic pillars, with the ultimate goal being to achieve equality within sport. The club hope that by releasing the new initiative they will be able to educate the new generation of fans and shape the culture of their supporters, while also reaching people outside of their own fan base.

The aforementioned four pillars are ‘raising awareness, education, prevention and collaboration’. The Serie A giants intend to use their leverage as one of the biggest clubs in Europe to promote the message of equality in sport.

The manifesto outlines a number of key events where Milan will look to promote the campaign, including the Derby della Madonnina on 20 February 2021 which will be promoted as the ‘Derby Against Racism’.

The Rossoneri are also re-launching their ‘All the Colours of Football’ initiative, a scheme which provides education of racial sensitivity in schools across Lombardy, reaching over 2000 students each year.

Alongside the manifesto, Milan also launched their ‘RESPACT‘ campaign, and scheme created in reference to UEFA’s ‘Respect’ campaign as the club looks to reach a wider audience with the message.

Speaking at the unveiling of the manifesto, Milan chief executive Ivan Gazidis underlined the importance of the initiative.

“Equity, diversity and inclusion are the very cornerstones of the club’s purpose and long-term vision as well as fundamental human values that can help to drive positive social change, ” he said.

“AC Milan is for everyone, just like football. We will do everything possible to mitigate prejudice and discrimination of all kinds and in all circumstances, to nurture more positive attitudes and behaviours within our game and our community.

“We hope our proposals can be a source of inspiration to others – to drive significant cultural change will require us all to work together.”
