As per the latest information, Denmark is likely to reopen its borders for tourism starting next month where they would allow tourists from selected countries. Once all of the aged citizens in the country receive vaccination against covid the country will open its borders. This decision was announced by the government.
Denmark has been under partial lockdown for over 3 months and will gain tourists once people aged over 50 are vaccinated even at least one shot and all its borders will reopen.
Referring to this, the government said that the country will open starting May 01. Residents coming from other European Countries with low contamination rates and who are not vaccinated will be allowed to enter Denmark from May 14. Such travelers need to provide negative RT-PCR test and isolate upon arrival.
Speaking about this, Jeppe Kofod, Foreign affairs minister of Denmark said, “It is an important step towards gradually and safely being able to open up for holiday and pleasure travel again. At the same time, it is crucial that we proceed cautiously and sensibly. Denmark is in a good place. We must not risk a setback now.”
The government is sure that most Danish citizens aged over 50 will receive vaccination by end of April or by the middle of May.
In an announcement, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the country is proceeding with caution as the country can now open up for domestic tourism and also some of the countries are now experiencing the third wave of coronavirus.
Recently, Denmark announced that they are introducing Vaccine Passports for its citizens which will serve as a crucial part of reopening.
